What does it take to be an engraver? How is the work done? What represents quality engraving work and value for the dollar? If you have ever asked any of these questions, you will want to attend a special seminar presented for members of the Colt Collectors Association in Kansas City, Missouri.
Mike Dubber, Colt Approved Master Engraver, will present a seminar on engraving Colt firearms as a part of the 2011 All Colt Show. He will discuss the history of Colt engraving and the importance of selecting a qualified engraver for commission work. Mike will also describe the various processes involved in creating a quality engraved Colt, as well as the artistic process Colt engravers follow in producing a finished piece.
Mike will have a good portion of his studio on-site to demonstrate the various methods of cutting metal, including engraver’s blocks, holding jigs, hammers and chisels and even some of the new air powered equipment that engravers use to produce the same quality of work as the Old Masters. This seminar is not just a boring discussion but a demonstration about how the work is actually executed.
Come and attend. There will be a few surprises! |
